Almost any artist seeks and works in his own style. The Bussum based painter Govert Muijs does so by creating his own interpretation of trompe d’oeil painting. This technique results in his works becoming a part of the interior. This artist furthermore manages to include in his paintings data referring to the lives of the persons shown in his paintings, such as their profession, relatives, their past and their future.
Typical exampleA typical example of the way in which this artist realises his commissions, is the work he made for a waiting room of a team of psycho-therapists in Bussum. It shows a half open cabinet door. Govert Muijs says: ‘By showing the contents of a cabinet you can show what kind of a person is portrayed. What he/she does, what he/she thinks. You can show what this person reads or eats, what hobbies or desires someone has’. Another example of his extraordinary way of painting that extends beyond the frame shows a barber, seen from behind and seeing herself in the mirror. It was given as a reward for many years of devoted service in a pleasant work environment.
Interesting is also the painting given by three daughters to their father. Both the family features and the own personalities can be distinguished, as well as the profession. There is even a much younger child that steps out of the frame with her dog.
