Govert paints murals, painting on canvas or boarding, landscapes and portraits (often commissioned). The frame is a source of inspirations in his paintings.
By painting the frame in relief, so that it looks real, you can make people step from one painting into another. The frame is the boundary of the painting, but Govert wants to break through it. There is life on the other side of the frame! In this way en even better contact with the viewer can be made. The frame can also be regarded as a window, through which you can see, for instance, the window cleaner looking into your room standing on his ladder. Also in his murals you can see that the persons depicted make contact with the real world. By painting such scenes very realistically, you put the viewer on the wrong track.
